Seeking Safety is an evidenced-based practice designed for people with co-occurring posttraumatic stress and substance use issues. Seeking Safety is a widely used and highly effective treatment that helps individuals establish safety from addictive behavior, dangerous relationships and extreme symptoms such as violence to self and others.
This practice encourages people to explore the link between trauma and substance abuse, but without delving into details of the past that could be a set-back in their recovery. It is focused on the present, offering education and developing safe coping skills with an equal emphasis on trauma and addiction. Solvista has both co-ed and women’s Seeking Safety groups that meet regularly.
